Associate Professor or Full Professor of Biomedical Sciences & Director of NIH COBRE (CIBBR)
The Department of Molecular, Cellular, and Biomedical Sciences (MCBS) in the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture (COLSA) at the University of New Hampshire (UNH) seeks applications for a full-time (9-month) tenure-track Associate or Full Professor of Biomedical Sciences who will also serve as Director of the NIH-funded Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE): Center of Integrated Biomedical and Bioengineering Research (CIBBR).
We seek an engaged faculty member who is an established biomedical scientist with a nationally recognized, externally funded research program employing state-of-the-art experimental approaches to advance the field of biomedical sciences — including but not limited to protein biochemistry, structural biology, signal transduction, developmental biology, genomics, cancer biology, and cell/gene therapy. The successful candidate must have prior administrative experience to lead CIBBR in meeting its goals, demonstrate a strong record of mentoring early-stage investigators, and show commitment to building research infrastructure, teaching, and service.
The position will be strengthened by collaborations with several UNH Centers of Excellence, including CIBBR’s Molecular & Cellular Phenotyping and Data Science Cores, the Hubbard Center for Genome Studies, the University Instrumentation Center, and the New Hampshire Agricultural Experiment Station. Graduate student training opportunities are available through affiliation with graduate programs in Biochemistry, Genetics, Microbiology, and Molecular & Evolutionary Systems Biology.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Maintain and expand a high-impact, externally funded research program in biomedical sciences. (30%)
- Serve as Principal Investigator and Administrative Core Lead of CIBBR (currently in Phase II). (25%)
- Provide high-quality instruction in biochemistry, biomedical sciences, and/or molecular and cellular biology courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. (20%)
- Contribute meaningfully to departmental, college, and university service. (10%)
- Mentor early-career investigators and graduate students, and foster an inclusive, collaborative research culture. (10%)
- Participate in the recruitment and professional development of faculty, staff, and students within MCBS and COLSA. (5%)
Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:
- Ph.D. in biochemistry, biomedical sciences, molecular biology, cell biology, genetics/genomics, or a related field.
- Current rank of Associate or Full Professor.
- Principal Investigator on at least one active, major NIH research grant with a scientific theme aligned with CIBBR.
- Demonstrated prior experience with academic and/or research administration.
- Proven commitment to undergraduate and graduate education, mentoring, and fostering an equitable and supportive work environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Record of leadership within large, multi-investigator research programs.
- Experience building and sustaining interdisciplinary collaborations.
- Evidence of successful mentorship of junior faculty and postdoctoral trainees.

Compensation Pay Range: $120,000 - $150,000
