Associate Program Manager
Position Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Associate Program Manager for the McNair program. Reporting to the Director of McNair and Thrive Student Support Services (SSS), the Associate Program Manager of the McNair program serves as a champion, preparing and advocating for low-income, first-generation, and/or underrepresented college students to explore pathways to a doctoral degree. Under the direction of the Director of McNair and Thrive SSS, the position is responsible for the organization and administration of the federally funded Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program and will coordinate and assist in facilitation of a pipeline for first generation, low-income, and historically underrepresented students into graduate school programs on-campus and external to the institution.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Instructs and facilitates academic courses for the McNair Program and will lead group and individual mentoring sessions for McNair Scholars.
- Supports the professional development of McNair scholars facilitating their admission and smooth transition into Ph.D. granting programs.
- Oversees the coordination of services, program plan and implementation, and service delivery for all students who participate in the Ronald E. McNair Program, as well as, special initiatives during the summer and academic year that encourage interest in and provide support toward increasing graduate school enrollment and attainment, particularly among low-income, first-generation, and historically underrepresented student populations.
- Submits all required annual reports for the United States Department of Education and compliance with all Federal guidelines.
Minimum Education and Experience
Master's Degree and experience mentoring, advising, and teaching undergraduate students and a minimum of three years of relevant work experience in higher education and working with economically and educationally disadvantaged population or an equivalent combination of education and/or related experience.
