Associate Project Manager
The Institute for Cybersecurity and Digital Trust is actively seeking a highly organized and communicative individual to fill the role of Project Manager. This position will be responsible for leading funded programs, notably, the CyberCorps Scholarship for Service (SFS) program and various student scholarships and competition programs. This position is responsible for ensuring efficient execution of program activities from planning the tasks, timelines and communication methods through final reports. The Project Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing the successful implementation of student-facing grants. Assertive attitude, customer service posture and being highly detailed and accurate are of essential importance. Many grants are renewable, so compliance and timeliness in presenting a positive and growing program is essential.
CyberCorps: Scholarship for Service (SFS) is a national program designed to recruit and train the next generation of cybersecurity professionals for federal, state, local, and tribal governments. Ohio State is a proud participant of the SFS program through a multi-million dollar grant awarded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). Additional programs currently include the Midwest VICEROY Institute scholarship and training program, the US CYBERCOM research paper and competition, and several student professional organizations.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Execution
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, including scope, timelines, deliverables, and resource allocation.
- Define project milestones and ensure timely execution of tasks across multiple concurrent projects.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to align project goals and expectations.
- Stakeholder & Team Coordination
- Serve as the primary point of contact for faculty, students, researchers, and external partners.
- Facilitate regular project meetings, status updates, and communication plans.
- Foster collaboration across interdisciplinary teams and ensure stakeholder engagement.
- Budget & Grant Management
- Monitor project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure compliance with grant requirements.
- Prepare financial and progress reports for funding agencies, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Support grant renewals by demonstrating program impact and growth.
- Compliance Management
- Identify potential risks and mitigations.
- Ensure all activities comply with institutional and sponsor guidelines.
- Program Support & Student Engagement
- Oversee student recruitment, training, and placement activities for the SFS program.
- Support additional programs such as the Midwest VICEROY Institute, US CYBERCOM competitions, and student organizations.
- Promote synergy across programs to maximize impact and resource efficiency.
A small portion of this role also involves providing administrative support to the Institute as a whole. Responsibilities include maintaining and analyzing the Institutes calendar for scheduling conflicts, managing internal stakeholder communications, attending all staff and faculty meetings, and supporting ICDT events and special projects. May require travel to the annual job fair and conference.
Qualifications
Required: Bachelors degree or equivalent experience, highly competent with MS Excel, ability to create a work breakdown structure; Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail and deadlines.
Desired: demonstrated ability to work with a high level of autonomy; detail-oriented with excellent record keeping and organizational skills; experience in writing general communications for email and news briefs; quantitative reporting experience; friendly with students and able to quickly build rapport; project management experience, PMI Project Management Professional Credentials
The target hiring range for this job profile is $51,500 - $67,250. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limit to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
