Job Description
The College of Law invites applications for an Associate Teaching Professor position teaching Legal Communication and Research (LCR). This is a three-year contract faculty position eligible for subsequent three- or five-year contract renewals. Candidates will teach multiple sections of LCR I and LCR II in the first-year curriculum, with the possibility of teaching additional courses such as Civil Procedure.
Start Date: August 2026
Teaching Load: Up to 18 credits across Fall and Spring semesters; summer teaching optional for additional pay
Qualifications
Required:
- JD degree from an accredited law school
- Excellent academic record
- Demonstrated commitment to excellent classroom teaching
- Ability to effectively interact with students, colleagues, and community members
Preferred / Job-Specific:
- Post-JD experience or credentials such as advanced degrees, judicial clerkships, relevant legal practice, or prior teaching experience
- Proficiency with AI tools in legal practice is a plus
- Interest in scholarship in legal research and writing is encouraged
- Strong research and writing skills
- Ability to provide detailed feedback, prepare classes, and manage student assignments
Responsibilities
- Teach residential and online law school programs in LCR I and II, possibly other courses
- Develop and update syllabi in compliance with College of Law policies
- Prepare lectures, projects, and assignments
- Maintain regularly scheduled office hours
- Grade student assignments and exams promptly
- Submit grades according to College of Law and University regulations
- Fulfill committee service requirements
- Build a positive rapport with students and faculty
