Associate Vice President for Health Partnerships & Development
Job Summary
Reporting to the Senior Vice President for University Advancement, the Associate Vice President for Health Partnerships & Development (“AVP”) will lead and manage strategic initiatives to build and strengthen partnerships with new and current major gift and principal gift donors. This role is responsible for developing and executing innovative strategies to secure collaborative opportunities and resources that support the University’s HealthPath Forward mission and growth. The AVP will work closely with the Senior VP for University Advancement, senior leadership and external stakeholders to identify new avenues for partnerships and philanthropic opportunities. In addition, the AVP is the team leader responsible for the direction of key areas within the Office of University Advancement including Principal and Major Gifts. The incumbent works with professionals in all areas of development creating strategies and monitoring the coordination of these efforts with other professionals within the Office of University Advancement and with the University at large. The AVP is also responsible for personal cultivation and solicitation of principal and major gift donors and achieving a set goal in support of Advancement’s goals.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
- Develops and implements a comprehensive strategy for health partnerships and revenue.
- Cultivates and manages relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Identifies and secures principal and major gift opportunities through entities aligned with the HealthPath Forward mission.
- Collaborates with academic departments and University leadership to align partnership efforts with institutional priorities.
- Manages partnership and philanthropic agreements.
- Represents the University at events, conferences and networking opportunities.
- Establishes a team model that successfully integrates the collaboration of professionals in University Advancement as well as the University at large.
- As a member of the University Advancement Leadership Team, participates in the establishment of individual and team goals and objectives as well as supporting strategies and tactics.
- Ensures the successful implementation of fundraising strategies.
- Ensures the timeliness of written materials and proposals.
- Works with other members of the Executive Team and all other professionals within the Office of University Advancement in fulfillment of overall goals.
- Develops and monitors goals for fundraising for FDU HealthPath Forward.
- Personally cultivates relationships with principal and major gift donors and prospects and successfully solicits gifts in achievement of set goals.
- Produces written and oral reports detailing activity and progress of assigned areas.
- Performs other work related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required from an accredited university or college; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of seven years of principal and major gift or related experience required and demonstrated record of fundraising or sales success.
- Significant or equivalent experience required in areas of principal and major gift fundraising, campaign fundraising and management and prospect management. Desired level of such experience is at least seven years in annual fund raising from alumni, friends, corporations and foundations. Preference may be given to candidates with related higher education fundraising experience.
- Possess a comprehensive record of substantial fundraising accomplishments along with a consistent history of value-added success within a team environment.
- Demonstrated record required soliciting, closing and stewarding leadership gifts of $100,000+. Experience with high level 6 and 7 figure gifts preferred.
- A minimum of five years professional administrative experience preferred demonstrating an in-depth knowledge of the higher education environment.
- Related experience in developing health partnerships and philanthropic opportunities is preferred.
- Experience required in the management of goals.
- Computer proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet and data management applications. Knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred. Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and public speaking ability.
- Willingness and ability to travel locally and nationally. Valid driver’s license and accessibility to a car.
- Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
