Asst Dir-Rec Programs & Experiences

FLSA Status: Exempt = not eligible for overtime
Work Schedule: Traditionally Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with occasional nights/weekend supervision as needed.
Salary: Targeted Salary Range: $50,320-$54,100
Travel: No travel
Brief Statement of Duties: Responsible for the overall administration and organization of the Outdoor Recreation Center, intramural sports programs, and the student marketing team within the Department of Campus Recreation. This position will coordinate, manage, and promote summer youth camps and outdoor adventures through the Wildcat Kids Camp program. Responsible for assisting with daily facility operations, staffing, special events and other department programs and services.

Required Specialized Training/Certifications:
- Certified sports official in related sports or ability to become certified upon being hired.
- CPR, First Aid, AED, WFR certified or ability to become certified upon being hired.
Required Minimum Work Experience:
- Two years of work experience in recreational sports programing or outdoor leisure/recreation industry.
- One year of experience in marketing, social media management, content creation, design or other applicable fields.
- One year of supervisory or management experience.
- Experience in youth programming.
- Experience in developing and monitoring operating and program budgets.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties:
- Well-developed teaching abilities, exceptional customer service and excellent written and interpersonal communication.
- Good project/time management skills, and ability to handle multiple tasks at once while working both independently and in teams.
- Previous experience/knowledge of officiating flag football, basketball, soccer and/or volleyball.
- Previous experience in outdoor recreation/leisure program management.
- Ability to purchase, manage, and maintain inventories of outdoor recreational and climbing wall equipment.
- Ability to work with diverse populations.
- Ability to accurately and efficiently perform required computerized tasks to include any combination of word processing, spreadsheet, database, Adobe Creative Cloud, e-mail, internet, or web-based applications including Fusion and IMLeagues.
- Ability to recruit, hire, train, schedule, and evaluate student employees.
- Ability to demonstrate empathy and understanding; manage conflicts; and ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships.
- Ability to engage staff, students, and others in the development of programs and services.
- Consistently demonstrate good judgment and possess the ability to assess and manage risk while planning and leading department programs and responding to situations with accurate and appropriate interpretation of University regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to accurately compile and analyze information and data and use it effectively to facilitate planning future services and programs.
- Ability to handle and manage confidential and sensitive information.
- Knowledge of standard office equipment.
- Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule including evening and weekend supervision.
Additional Desirable Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Outdoor Recreation, Physical Education, Business or other applicable field.
Experience with Fusion and IMLeagues (Campus Rec Software). - AMGA SPI certification.
- Lifeguard Certification.
