The Department of Neurosurgery is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible MD or MD/PhD who is Neurosurgical Neuro-oncology trained to facilitate subspecialty program growth, increase patient access and be a contributing educator for Neurosurgery’s residency program. We are seeking a neurosurgeon who is interested in having a robust clinical practice, teaching opportunities, program building, and aiding in clinical research growth.
The successful candidate will join an existing Cranial division within a comprehensive department that includes expertise in complex spine, endovascular, neuro-oncology, neurotrauma, and skull-based surgery.
The rank of appointment (Assistant/Associate) is open and will be commensurate with the experience and professional accomplishments of the selected applicant. This position will support the University's mission and commitment to excellence in our students, faculty, staff, and all our activities.
Essential Functions
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in cranial neurosurgery, including preoperative evaluation, surgical intervention, and postoperative management.
- Participate in bedside education and clinical instruction of medical students, APP’s and neurosurgery residents, particularly in the diagnosis and treatment of cerebrovascular and functional disorders.
- Provide direct patient care. Related duties will include but not be limited to the following: performing preoperative assessments, evaluating patients before surgery to determine the most appropriate plan based on their medical history and current health; performing postoperative care by overseeing the recovery of patients, and handling emergency situations by providing life-saving interventions and support for breathing and circulation.
- Attend departmental and institutional meetings, contribute to governance, and assist in the preparation of educational materials.
- Engage in scholarly activities, including clinical research, quality improvement, and academic service.
- Provide service to the professional and lay community relevant to neurosurgery and academic medicine.
- Respond to University-related communications in a timely and professional manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of departmental and institutional goals.
Minimum Requirements
- MD or DO from an accredited institution.
- Completion of an accredited neurosurgery residency program (7 years).
- Fellowship training in neurosurgical oncology.
- Active medical licensure in the State of Ohio.
