OVERVIEW & HIGHLIGHTS

The Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District is seeking a qualified individual as an Athletic Trainer. The Incumbent is responsible for the therapeutic care, injury prevention, and rehabilitative treatments of student-athletes. The Athletic Trainer is also responsible for developing and educating athletic training students. The Athletic Trainer is the first responder in emergency situations involving the student-athlete, performs immediate treatment and care of injuries, makes decisions regarding and coordinates medical referral when necessary, organizes and tracks insurance information, performs extended treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and makes decisions regarding return to play. AT-A-GLANCE POSITION INFORMATION:

Type of position: Full-Time Monday - Friday

Salary: Range CL-40
$32.20 - $40.26 Hourly
$5,581 - $6,979 Monthly (based on 40 hours per week)

Initial Salary Placement: New employees start at Step A ($32.20 per hour) or B ($34.05 per hour) on the salary schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Any combination equivalent to: A bachelor's degree in physical education, athletic training, or completion of an entry level Master's program in athletic training AND two years of experience as an athletic trainer.

A Master's degree in athletic training or completion of entry level doctorate program in athletic training preferred.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid California driver's license and ability to qualify for district vehicle insurance coverage.
  • Valid Emergency Cardiac Care Certification that includes CPR (adult, pediatric and second rescuer), airway obstruction, barrier devices and AED training issued by the American Red Cross or other authorized agency.
  • Membership in good standing with the National Athletic Trainer's Association.
  • A valid and current Board of Certification for Athletic Training (B.O.C.) certification number; incumbents of this class are also expected to complete continuing education units to fulfill requirements for ongoing B.O.C. certification.
