Audio-Visual Technician

About the position:

The Audio Visual (AV) Technician's role is to support and maintain in-house audio-visual equipment and non-print media assets. This includes operating, maintaining, distributing, installing, configuring, repairing, and upgrading various electronic products while ensuring their optimal performance. This person will also troubleshoot problem areas in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end-user training and assistance where required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Four years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and operation of electronic equipment and systems and graduation from high school or vocational school, with successful completion of an approved electronic/AV course of study, OR graduation from a two-year college with major course work in electronics. Additional formal training in electronics/AV may be substituted year-for-year for experience up to a maximum of one year. OR An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of teleconferencing, presentation, and other AV hardware.
  • Comprehensive hands-on AV equipment support and troubleshooting experience.
  • Good knowledge of current network protocols, operating systems, software, and standards.
  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Experience:
    • operating tools, components, and peripheral accessories.
    • reading and understanding technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM guides.
    • conduct research into hardware products and issues as required.
    • prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Self motivated and directed.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • On-call availability.
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication & customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Commitment to inclusive practices and working with diverse student populations.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Successful interview.
  • Successful completion of three background checks.

Special Instructions to Applicants:

  • This position is represented by a labor union and is subject to the terms and conditions of the AFSCME Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • On-call availability.
  • Work evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to work in person on campus in an office setting.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license.

Days Worked: Monday – Friday /Plus evenings and weekends.

Hours/Shift worked: 11:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. /Plus evenings and weekends.
