Position overview

The ANU College of Law, Governance and Policy (CLGP) is a progressive and newly established College that brings together four world-leading academic schools dedicated to shaping the future of law, governance, regulation, policy and population health. As part of Australia’s leading university, the College fosters excellence in research, teaching and engagement, driving impactful contributions to national and global challenges.

The Crawford School of Public Policy is one of four Schools within CLGP and one of the world’s leading public policy schools. The Crawford School is the University’s focal point for contributing to public policy research, education and policy impact. Its graduate programs have trained many of the region’s leaders, and its research has impacted on policy making. Public policy scholarship at Crawford School is characterised by high quality, policy-relevant research across a range of disciplines.

The Tax and Transfer Policy Institute (TTPI) Is a strategic collaboration between the Australian Government and ANU and is based at the Crawford School of Public Policy. It focuses on supporting policy-relevant work at the interface between government and academia in a range of strategic issues relevant to tax and transfer policy in a national and regional context. Wherever possible, TTPI works in close collaboration with government departments and agencies.

The Opportunity

As the Research Project Coordinator, you will play a central role in ensuring the smooth delivery of TTPI’s research, outreach, and strategic partnership activities. Working under the broad direction of the TTPI Director, you will:

  • Provide high-level coordination for projects, secondees, visiting researchers, and research partners across the Treasury-funded program.
  • Organise policy briefings, workshops, conferences and other engagement events that strengthen TTPI’s policy impact.
  • Manage project budgets, financial reporting and milestone tracking, including contributing to the annual report to Treasury.
  • Support the Institute’s communications, including preparing newsletters, updating the website, and assisting with promotion of TTPI outputs.
  • Provide executive and operational support to ensure the efficient day-to-day functioning of the Institute.
  • Liaise with senior academics, government officials and external partners to support timely and high-quality project delivery.

This is a dynamic, varied role that requires strong judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Our Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Demonstrated experience in project, event, or communications coordination, ideally in a university, government, or policy-related environment.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing reports, documentation, and briefing material.
  • Confidence working independently as well as collaboratively in a small team.
  • High-level administrative skills, including budget monitoring and document preparation.

Experience working with government stakeholders or in public policy contexts will be highly regarded.
