Basic Needs Assistant WS, Student
Job Summary
Supports the Roadrunner Resource Center (Basic Needs) in providing students with information and referrals to various campus and community resources. Provides basic clerical support by assisting with office coverage and representing Roadrunner Resources (Basic Needs) at college and community events.
Required Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Must maintain enrollment in at least 6 credits at LBCC, maintain satisfactory academic progress throughout each term, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better, and have financial aid in place to be eligible to work in a Work Study student employee capacity at Linn-Benton Community College.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to communicate clearly and compassionately when assisting students with sensitive or personal topics.
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn about on-campus and community-based resources.
- Comfort using and demonstrating various technologies, online tools, and self-help platforms, such as resource websites.
- Ability to independently perform assigned responsibilities.
- Willingness to attend training to enhance skills.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Work is performed indoors with no exposure to safety and health hazards. Considerable time may be spent working at a computer. This position may occasionally require evening availability for college or community events. Scheduling will be coordinated in advance.
Essential Duties
- Assist and mentor students in understanding and utilizing various on-campus and community-based support resources.
- Assist students in locating and navigating online tools and self-help resources.
- Provide basic clerical assistance, including office coverage, updating and distributing outreach materials, and helping maintain an organized and welcoming space.
- Maintain organization, labeling, and restocking of items in the Roadrunner Resources Basic Needs Pantry and at resource hubs around campus.
- Work alongside staff and other student workers to promote awareness of basic needs services and help create a supportive, stigma-free environment.
