BCAS - Instructor of Gender and Race Studies - 527380
The Department of Gender and Race Studies at the University of Alabama is searching to fill three full-time, renewable contract Instructor positions with a start date of August of 2026. Successful applicants will have demonstrated teaching experience in courses in any of the disciplines of Sociology, African American Studies, or Women's Studies. ABD candidates must have completed the requirements for the PhD prior to starting the position.
The Department of Gender and Race Studies offers courses in the MA program in Women's Studies, an undergraduate major program in African American Studies, and minor programs in African American Studies, Sociology, and Women's Studies. Fulltime instructors teach primarily in the course program based on their research and teaching interests. We are particularly interested in candidates with a degree in Sociology, but other PhD disciplines are eligible for consideration. A normal teaching load for these positions also includes Departmental service.
The positions are benefits eligible, and are initially hired on a one-year renewable contract. Applicants should complete the online application at ua.edu.
