Benefits & Compensation Analyst
The Benefits & Compensation Analyst supports the administration, analysis, and continuous improvement of the College's benefits and compensation programs for faculty and staff. Reporting to the Associate Director for Benefits and Total Rewards, this role plays a critical supporting function, providing high-quality analytical, operational, and customer service support to ensure programs are competitive, compliant, equitable, and well documented.
This position is well suited for a highly detail-oriented, analytically strong professional who works hard, manages confidential information with care, and approaches compensation and benefits work with a supportive, service-oriented mindset. The Analyst serves as the primary resource for compensation benchmarking, reporting, and data analysis, while also directly managing designated components of the College's benefits programs.
Job Description:
Benefits Administration and Support
- Support the day-to-day administration of employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement (403(b)), flexible spending accounts, tuition benefits, workers' compensation, COBRA, and unemployment
- Manage designated components of benefits administration as assigned, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and a high level of service
- Assist with annual Open Enrollment activities, including system configuration, testing, audits, employee communications, and coordination with vendors and carriers
- Respond to employee benefit inquiries and resolve issues in collaboration with vendors, carriers, and internal partners
- Maintain accurate benefits data in HRIS and benefits systems and perform regular audits and reconciliations to ensure data integrity
- Plan, host and attend Orientation and training sessions for employees to understand benefits and total rewards offerings
Compensation Analysis and Reporting
- Serve as the primary analyst for compensation benchmarking, market pricing, and reporting
- Conduct external market analyses and internal equity reviews using salary surveys, benchmarking tools, and internal data
- Prepare compensation reports, dashboards, and summaries to support decision-making by Human Resources leadership
- Support job evaluation, classification, and reclassification processes in accordance with College policies and collective bargaining agreements
- Assist with salary planning processes, including annual merit, equity, and structural adjustment cycles
- Support documentation and tracking of compensation decisions to ensure consistency and transparency
Compliance and Documentation
- Support compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to benefits and compensation, including ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, FMLA, and COBRA
- Assist in maintaining compliance calendars, documentation, and audit materials
- Support the preparation and maintenance of plan documents, summaries, policies, procedures, and internal guidance materials
Vendor and Project Support
- Support vendor and consultant relationships by assisting with data requests, renewals, reporting, and issue resolution
- Compile census, utilization, and cost data for carriers, consultants, actuaries, and leadership review
- Participate in benefits and total rewards projects, including system enhancements, reporting automation, process improvements, and wellness initiatives
- Assist with testing, documentation, and rollout support for HRIS and benefits system changes
Communication and Customer Service
- Assist in developing benefits and compensation communication materials, including guides, trainings, FAQs, presentations, and internal reference tools
- Support employee education initiatives and information sessions related to benefits and total rewards
- Provide high-quality, responsive, and empathetic customer service to faculty and staff on benefits and compensation-related matters
Skills, Qualifications & Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong understanding of employee benefits programs and compensation principles; familiarity with higher education practices preferred
- Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Advanced Excel skills and strong data management and reporting capabilities
- Experience working with HRIS and benefits systems; Workday experience preferred
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly and professionally to a wide range of audiences
- Strong customer service orientation with a collaborative and supportive approach
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- High level of professionalism and discretion in handling confidential information
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Two years of experience in human resources, benefits administration, compensation analysis, or a related analytical role
- Demonstrated experience working with compensation benchmarking tools, surveys, and HRIS platforms
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in higher education or a similarly complex organization
- Professional certifications such as CCP, CBP, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP
This job is currently a hybrid position, but may require a presence in the office up to five times a week depending on operational needs.
Salary: $80,000 - $88,000 annually
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
