Biobank Manager
About the role:
The Tissue Bank Manager will be responsible for all day-to-day data business and will develop a strategic plan, in dialogue with TRANSFROM TMG and the Bio-digital Twin leads, to develop the Twin into a world-leading high-quality data and tissue resource, which will underpin transformative translational research for men and their family affected by prostate cancer.
What you would be doing:
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring governance and the management and development of its operation. As the program and trial progressing, staff expansion will occur. Tissue Bank Manager, along with the Data Manager will manage and develop this team. The Tissue Bank Manager will have oversight of all finances and budgets related to the operation of the Bio-Digital Twin and support the leads in pursuit of further funding opportunities. The appointee will develop and manage a business plan to ensure the long-term success of the bank.
The post holder will oversee the translational part of the TRANSFORM clinical trial and will be responsible for all aspects of trial management relating to tissue collections and processing, in close liaison with the lead investigators for the Bio-Digital Twin.
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in biomedical/scientific field
- Proven experience of research tissue banking
- Experience of molecular biological techniques
- Experience of managing projects at a senior level
What we can offer you:
- We are seeking to appoint an experienced Biobanking Manager to join our multidisciplinary team delivering the National Prostate Cancer Bio-Digital Twin. This is part of the national prostate screening study TRANSFORM, funded by PCUK and NIHR. We will capture digital data & undertake biospecimen banking from the trial into the Bio-Digital Twin for (i) biomarker testing at scale and pace, (ii) translational & discovery science and (iii) the simulation of in silico trials to inform clinical care. The study plans to recruit up to 300,000 men and to capture associated digital and biological measures that will support cutting edge studies that will transform outcomes for men with prostate cancer across the world.
