Hours & Location
- Location: Evelyn H. Lauder Breast Center, 300 E 66th St, New York, NY 10065
- Limited weekly shifts available: Monday - Friday from 9AM - 12PM, 12PM - 3PM
- No weekend or evening shifts are available.
- Please indicate all shifts you are available for in your application.
Volunteer Opportunity
Seeking reliable and committed volunteers available for a weekly 3-hour shift at our Evelyn H. Lauder Breast Center. Volunteers at this location will support the chemo infusion area or radiology spaces, providing non-clinical support to patients, visitors, and staff.
As a volunteer, you may:
- Offer a warm welcome by greeting patients, families, and visitors when they arrive.
- Help with wayfinding by walking visitors to their destinations or answering general questions.
- Provide comfort in the chemo infusion unit by offering patients and visitors non-clinical support such as blankets, refreshments, or a friendly presence.
- Update patients on wait times, provide locker room and changing instructions, and assist with rooming in patients in the radiology unit.
- Support patients and staff in the waiting areas by assisting with wheelchair retrieval, escorting patients to appointments, or simply checking in to see where help is needed.
- Assist staff in organizing supplies or restocking resource areas.
Who We're Looking For
- Age 18+
- Able to commit to the same weekly 3-hour shift for at least 6 months.
- If you are a former or current MSK patient, you must be out of active treatment for at least one year.
- Friendly and comfortable engaging with patients, families, and staff.
- Reliable and proactive.
- Must be flexible and willing to support areas based on daily needs, as directed by the Volunteer Supervisor.
Onboarding Process *(average 4-6 weeks)*
- Virtual interview (based on scheduling needs and program fit)
- 2-3 reference checks
- Background check & drug screen (*18+ only*)
- Medical clearance (flu and other immunizations required; at applicant's expense)
*To stay active in the program, onboarding must be completed within 4-6 weeks. If your application is pending any onboarding tasks for 30+ days, your application may be rejected.*

This is an unpaid volunteer role. The Volunteer Department does not oversee paid employment, internships, shadowing, or educational programs. Our program provides meaningful, long-term opportunities to support patients and staff.
