Production Apprentices are employed to support technicians and basic operation of equipment for business conferences, seminars, meetings, concerts, and other events. Duties include assisting with the setup and testing of audio, video, and lighting systems, operation of basic AV components, and learning from senior technicians and managers in the art and practice of professional live production.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Assist with transport of all audio, lighting, and video equipment.
- Assist with set up and execution of production to customer specifications.
- Assist with operation of professional audio, lighting, and video.
- Keep the stage and backstage areas safe.
- Keep all audio/video equipment secure.
- Maintain a safe working environment at all.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Credentials, and Competencies
Minimum Qualifications:
- Entry-level skill level in either audio, video, or lighting operation.
- Awareness of audio, video, or lighting systems.
- Understanding of live production environment
- Able to function well in a fast-paced and high-stress work environment.
- Learn and adapt quickly to dynamic work situations.
- Able to learn to troubleshoot AV problems quickly.
- Positive attitude, hardworking, and diligent, with an eagerness to learn.
- Problem solver with the ability to multitask.
- Setup and operate equipment such as microphones, speakers, video screens, projectors, video monitors, recording equipment, cables, and mixing consoles.
- Passing knowledge of low-voltage electricity.
- Work effectively as a team member, embracing, and fostering Liberty University's mission.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of audio, lighting, and video systems and trends.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong understanding of Windows, macOS X, and Microsoft Office products.
- Knowledge of audio and video concepts and equipment, PowerPoint, ProPresenter, and graphic design.
- Broadcast audio and/or video production experience.
- Production rigging knowledge.
To obtain LU-approved driver certification, individuals must be 21 years of age or older, possess a valid driver's license with a minimum of five (5) years of documented driving history, and maintain a clean driving record.
