Job Summary
Arapahoe Community College is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Budget Analyst to support the development, analysis, and administration of the College's general fund and sponsored program budgets. This position plays a critical role in ensuring budgetary compliance, supporting data-informed decision-making, and fostering financial transparency across academic and administrative units. The analyst will apply accounting principles and state fiscal rules to monitor expenditures, prepare reports, and recommend adjustments aligned with institutional priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze income and expenditure trends to support forecasting, planning, and budget adjustments.
- Prepare and maintain budget reports, dashboards, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide training and technical assistance on budget development, policy compliance, and system usage.
- Support the development and presentation of annual, quarterly, and multi-year operating budgets.
- Collaborate with other departments to align budgetary planning with staffing and student FTE allocations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field OR a combination of education and relevant experience. Equivalencies will not count toward the experience below.
- Two (2) years professional accounting experience with a primary focus on fiscal or budget analysis which may include budget trends, budget forecasting, monitoring budget performance, budget related electronic documentation, budget policy compliance, and budget records documentation in accordance with institution requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of financial management principles and practices in a higher education setting.
- Experience working within a higher education setting or with Colorado Community College System (CCCS).
- Familiarity with Banner financial system.
- Fluency with MS Office Suite.
- Ability to interpret and apply college policies, state regulations, and sponsor agency guidelines.
