Responsibilities

With the other members of Facilities team, this position will maintain the beauty of Talladega College’s historic buildings and grounds. The successful candidate performs a wide range of general labor work order request, including minor repairs, painting and renovation as requested by the Director of Facilities.

This position will be responsible for maintaining the landscape and campus beautification. Must operate and maintain lawn equipment; make minor repairs to lawn equipment; repair to operate small tractors, chainsaws and weed trimmers. Operate and maintain college vehicles. Provides assistance for setups pertaining to college events, ceremonies and programs. Provides lock and key service for the campus as requested. Performs daily trash removal; moves furniture as required, ability to read tap measure and some knowledge of carpentry and other duties assigned by the Department Head.

Requirements

Ability to: Perform heavy manual laboring tasks for prolonged periods of time; climb; use tools and equipment including operation of power tools and equipment in a safe and efficient manner; frequently lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) read signs, labels, work schedules and simple instructions and write simple messages in English; understand oral and written instructions; and count, add and subtract small numbers. Valid Alabama Driver’s License preferred.
