"Burn Program PI Nurse - Trauma Service - FT, Days"

The Burn Performance Improvement Nurse performs duties that cover the roles of Burn Performance Improvement and Trauma Registrar. In the Performance Improvement role, the nurse will coordinate and implement performance improvement and patient safety initiatives within the UCI Health Regional Burn Program. This includes working closely with the Burn Medical Director, Burn Program Manager, and Burn Program Coordinator to identify clinical trends, analyze outcomes, and drive continuous improvements in clinical care, operational processes, and compliance with American Burn Association (ABA) verification standards for both the adult and pediatric program. The role also involves facilitating multidisciplinary peer review, identifying provider and system issues, tracking and trending complications and audit filters/issues, and maintaining appropriate files/documentation and data systems. As the Trauma Registrar, the nurse will report to the Trauma Program Manager and be responsible for abstracting and coding trauma cases in alignment with National Trauma Data Standards (NTDS), using ICD-10 and AIS 2015 guidelines. This role supports the Trauma Program's commitment to data integrity, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance.

Required Qualifications:

• Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
• Must demonstrate meticulous attention to accuracy with data collection and reporting
• Minimum 5 years of nursing experience in either the Intensive Care Unit or Emergency Department
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Excellent organizational skills
• Ability to prioritize and contribute to simultaneous projects and facilitate teamwork among project staff / participants
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, EPIC EHR systems, and clinical databases
• MSN or similar degree
• Knowledge of Burn Registry programs and processes
• ICD 10 Knowledge/Certification
• Experience with ABA or ACS verification process
• CBRN Certification
• AIS 2015 Knowledge/Certification

Licenses and Certifications:

• CA Registered Nurse
• Basic Life Support
• Advanced Burn Life Support
