Bus Driver, Part-Time
Job Summary
The Driver works to provide skill in the operation of the University shuttle buses and other vehicles.
Core Responsibilities
- Responsible for the safe operation of the University vehicles and excellent customer service to passengers.
- Drives and operates University shuttle buses and other vehicles over assigned routes.
- Provides service to students, employees, and visitors.
- Verifies the condition of vehicles and reports needed adjustments or repairs.
- Maintains mileage reports.
- Performs minor maintenance and cleaning of vehicles.
- Provides special event transportation support as needed.
- Promotes safety and environmental protection by immediately reporting unsafe situations, spills, and accidents; following University safety plans/procedures/protocols; and participating in appropriate safety training.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Valid Texas Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B with passenger endorsements.
- Current DOT Medical Certification or ability to obtain before employment.
- One (1) year of commercial driving experience including driving a passenger bus.
- Knowledge of passenger buses and vans.
- This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UTSA and its infrastructure.
Additional Information
UTSA is a tobacco free campus. This is a security sensitive position. Employment is contingent upon a successful background check. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire. Valid driver's license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) as applicable.
Working Conditions
Working Environment: Conditions commonly associated with operating passenger vehicles. Exposure to outside weather conditions. Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions, or other business-related events. Occasional after-hours and weekend work or overtime may be required.
Physical Demands: Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required, only occasionally. Extended periods sitting.
This position will be primarily located on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
