Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:
The Cameron School of Business is a fully AACSB accredited business school with a leading position among regional public universities. The Cameron School has more than 3,500 undergraduates and 1,100 graduate students enrolled in a variety of business degree programs.
Brief Summary of Work for this Position:
This position is a key member of the Cameron School of Business (CSB) Business Services team, supporting budget and financial operations. Through effective data collection, analysis, and presentation, the role partners with the Assistant Dean to manage and oversee financial activity across CSB programs, departments, and centers. Responsibilities include developing budget models and recommendations, creating tools for financial reporting, monitoring, and tracking across multiple funding sources.
The Business Officer collaborates with CSB units and university offices to ensure sound financial practices, while also developing internal training materials and documenting best practices. This position serves as a budget authority and is the primary approver for ChromeRiver travel, reimbursement, and p-card transactions.
In addition, the role monitors the CSB budget and processes key financial actions, including budget revisions, SRCI Flex entries, and journal entries. The Business Officer also works closely with departments and vendors to resolve financial issues and ensure accurate and efficient budget management.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, or related business area; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Strong knowledge of state and university policies and procedures, with experience implementing them.
- Expertise in financial management, budgeting, and reconciliation.
- Effective communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- High attention to detail, ability to prioritize, and work independently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Familiarity with Banner, ChromeRiver/Emburse, and purchasing software.
- Previous work experience in higher education.
