GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Dean of Students Office Case Manager and Coordinator of Student Support Resources is a member of the Dean of Students Office central staff to manage tasks related to the operations and services of the Office. This position coordinates programs directly related to food and housing insecurities through collaboration with campus and community partners.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Reports to the Assistant Dean of Students
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Rams Resource Center Pantry Manager (18 hr/wk Contractor)
EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Meets with students who present to the Dean's office with problems or concerns of varying degrees of seriousness and provides triage with regard to these concerns, as needed.
- Supports a diverse group of students, including students who are facing a situation that is impacting their ability to be successful at FSU, by connecting students with campus and community resources, providing follow-up and case management that promotes self-advocacy.
- Maintains documentation of student contacts and disposition.
- Coordinates efforts focused on assisting students with housing and food insecurities.
- Serves as the University's single point of contact for students with housing and food insecurity.
- Oversees the Rams Resource Center (RRC)- Food and Amenity Pantry, in collaboration with the RRC Advisory Board.
- Coordinates the RRC Advisory Board activities
- Manages the RRC Budget
- Assures the pantry is staffed with volunteers or student workers when open
- Markets the availability of the resource
- Assures the inventory is monitored and stocked
- Serves on the Financial Crisis Response Team as the student point of contact.
- University representative for the Massachusetts Moving to College Program and Massachusetts Student Housing Security Pilot Program.
- Maintains an updated directory of community resources available to students.
- Develops collaborative relationships with resource providers in the MetroWest area for effective referral
- Applies for and manages grants related to basic need supports.
- Collaborates with the Associate Dean of Students in coordinating the University's efforts related to DHE homeless student housing initiatives, including the preparation of state and MetroWest team reports.
- Serves as the Student Affairs Liaison to Financial Aid.
- Collaborates with student accounts and financial aid staff in developing and implementing financial literacy programs for students and families.
- Serves on the Dean's Council and University Student Assistance Team.
- Collaborates with staff in the Dean's office on responsibilities associated with special community events and large-scale events, including but not limited to Accepted Student Receptions, Orientation, Black and Gold Beginnings, Homecoming, and Commencement.
- Participates in general student outreach and support, working closely with Admissions, the Advising Center, and new student transition programs.
- Accountable for ensuring that equal opportunity, equity, and inclusion are integrally tied to all actions and decisions in areas of responsibility.
- Other duties, as assigned.

Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in related field
- 3 years of relevant work experience in higher education or at a social service agency serving young adults
- Demonstrated track record of providing support to a diverse group of students/clients
- Excellent judgment and ability to handle confidential/sensitive information with discretion
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Ability to establish and foster relationships with campus partners within Student Development and across the University community
- Ability to think critically and solve problems, effectively prioritize tasks, and manage multiple competing priorities.
- Proven excellence in time management and ability to multitask.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in social work, counseling, higher education or related field
- Experience collaborating with and building partnerships with outside agencies, to establish ongoing coordinated resources that support students.
- Experience with a food pantry or similar services
- Experience counseling/coordinating services for students/clients in distress.
- Demonstrated cultural competence and inclusiveness in working with populations of diverse cultures
- Candidates who are bilingual in English and Spanish or English and Portuguese are strongly encouraged to apply.
Additional Information:
This is a full-time, exempt, benefits-eligible position in the Association of Professional Administrators (APA) bargaining unit with a union title of Staff Assistant. The anticipated starting salary is $60,000-62,000.
