Catering Supervisor
Job Description
Responsible for supervising up to 20 union and 115 student staff weekly. Food Services Catering supervisors lead shifts at various departmental units across campus based on event schedule. Events occur at all times including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
Education and Experience
Associates degree in food service, or business management. And/or a combination of supervisory and food service experience equal to 5 years. ServSafe certification required and provided upon hire, valid NYS Drivers license required.
Skills and Knowledge
Excellent leadership and communication skills. Well-developed analytical, technical, computer and oral and written communication are necessary for this position. Ability to make autonomous, data-driven decisions based on current business operations and defined departmental strategy. Must be able to support all areas of Campus Dining, including flexible/rotating work shift times.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the setup, execution and break down of catered events held on and off campus. Rely on independent judgment to problem solve the day-to-day operations of catered events. Supervise 10 - 15 union staff, 4 student supervisors, and 100-150 student staff. Train, advise and guide student staff. Represent Food Services at all catered events on and off Campus. Expected to interpret and apply University, Food Services, County, State, and Union policies. Maintain inventory and service needs. Keep daily service records, input into computerized system, post invoices, order direct purchases. Write up, gather, and inventory all equipment and linen for catered events.
