Join the team responsible for supervising and coordinating food related services for events held at the Memorial Union and other locations. As a catering supervisor, you will lead food preparation and catering setup for events ranging from receptions to buffets to plated dinners. You will mentor student team members in their catering production work and training. You will also assist with other dining-related efforts, such as inventory and taking steps to ensure we have a safe, sanitary dining experience behind the scenes and in our front-of-house. We host a wide spectrum of events from weddings to tailgates to breakfast meetings. This means no two days are the same.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to federal, state, campus, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures - 5%
  • Cleans, inspects, and maintains kitchen equipment and work areas - 15%
  • Performs routine and non-routine food preparation activities including cook to order and specialty foods - 15%
  • Leads and provides exceptional customer service, answers questions, and provides information regarding food preparation, catering, and associated activities - 30%
  • Develops and schedules logistics and menus for daily and catering operations - 5%
  • Assigns and coordinates the day-to-day activities of food service staff - 30%

Compensation:

The salary of $22.00 per hour is the anticipated starting pay rate for any candidate who is hired for this position. This position is eligible for a night pay differential of $2.50 per hour for hours worked between 6:00 pm and 6:00 am. This position is also eligible for a weekend pay differential of $0.80 per hour for hours worked between 12:01 am on Saturday and 12:00 midnight on Sunday. This position offers a comprehensive benefits package, including generous paid time off, competitively priced health/dental/vision/life insurance, tax-advantaged savings accounts, and participation in the nationally recognized Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) pension fund. Required Qualifications:

  • Drivers License - Valid and Meets UW Risk Management Standards
  • ServSafe Certification - Hold or obtain within 6 months
  • Valid Bartender License - Hold or obtain within 6 months of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

Food service, restaurant, hotel experience, and/or customer service experience preferred but not required.

Education:

Preferred H.S. Diploma
