Class Description
Part-time Adjunct Faculty are needed to provide instruction for the Single Step and/or ACCESS program, part of the Center for Alternative and Supported Education (CASE). These programs work with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. CASE provides customized, student-centered, quality instruction in academic preparation, life skills and workforce readiness. Must be comfortable working independently and in team teaching environments. Attendance at meetings and professional development workshops may be required. Classes may be held on campus or off-site with partners in the greater Baltimore area.
Salary commensurate with experience.
Minimum Requirements
- Two years of full-time, or four years part-time, academic and/or other experience working with people with developmental or other disabilities required.
- High School Diploma required.
- Ability to work a flexible part-time schedule.
- Ability to teach a computer-assisted curriculum, preferred
- Associate degree, Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience preferred.
Instructors should have experience teaching and/or working with people with intellectual, developmental, physical and social challenges. Most classes are weekdays between 9 am and 4 pm and some classes may require travel to an off-campus location.
POSITIONS ARE LOCATED ON THE CATONSVILLE AND DUNDALK CAMPUSES
Class Specific Essential Duties
- preparing and teaching lessons for students with disabilities functioning at different levels in the classroom;
- classroom management of student behaviors;
- completing paperwork- a syllabus for each class, attendance rosters, registration forms, student evaluations, and any other required paperwork;
- coordinating and collaborating with the staff of client agencies.
Courses offered include reading, writing, math, career training, life skills and personal enrichment (e.g. money management, independent living, art, music, civics, and stress management).

The 403(b) supplemental retirement plan is available to all CCBC employees (Adjunct Faculty, Part Time Associates and Full Time employees). - Roth 403(b) is a savings feature that is available when you open a 403(b) account. The Roth 403(b) savings feature allows employees to contribute after-tax dollars and then withdraw tax-free dollars from their account upon retirement. The Roth 403(b) savings feature is only offered by the following vendors: TIAA-CREF and VOYA Financial Advisors, Inc. Adjunct Faculty, Part Time Associates and Full Time employees are eligible to save for retirement using the Roth 403(b) savings feature. Employees may contribute traditional pre-tax 403(b) dollars and Roth 403(b) post-tax dollars simultaneously. The savings limits are combined for the Traditional 403(b) and the Roth 403(b) contributions.
- Deferred Compensation Plan — 457(b) offered through VOYA Financial Advisors, Inc. The 457(b) salary reduction authorization form is needed. The form is available on SharePoint Forms/Human Resources Forms.
Parking
Free. Must obtain a parking permit from the Department of Public Safety to use on all campuses.
