About This Opportunity

An exciting opportunity is now available for a highly organised and proactive professional to join the Centre for Policy Futures as a part-time Centre Coordinator in a job share arrangement.

In this joint role, you will help drive the smooth and efficient operation of the Centre by delivering high-level administrative and operational support across a broad range of functions. Working closely with your job share partner, you will contribute to governance processes, coordinate external events, and support activities spanning human resources, finance, and procurement.

You will also play a key role in building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, supporting the Centre’s dynamic engagement with government, industry, and community partners.

The Centre for Policy Futures sits within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) at The University of Queensland. The Centre’s mission is to increase UQ’s influence at the policy interface by supporting research translation, public engagement, executive education, and collaboration with government, industry, and community stakeholders.

This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the Centre’s growing profile and reputation, supporting initiatives that enhance its visibility, influence, and real-world impact.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Engagement, Events and Communications

  • Lead the planning and delivery of Centre events and oversee communications, including website, social media, and marketing, to enhance visibility, stakeholder engagement, and research impact.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including academics, government, industry, and partners, supporting collaboration and coordinated activities.

Financial and HR Management

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and human resource planning, ensuring alignment with University policies and operational needs.

Governance and Reporting

  • Prepare high-quality governance reports and briefing materials, and support compliance with University and Faculty frameworks.

Centre Administration

  • Provide high-level administrative and secretariat support to the Director, including diary management, meeting coordination, and general operational assistance.

About You

  • A degree with at least four years of subsequent relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Demonstrated project management skills with an ability to work within a high-pressure environment, with varying timelines and budgetary constraints.
  • Detailed knowledge of financial administration, budget planning and effective human resource management principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders and operate as a trusted expert.
  • A sound knowledge of the University’s administrative systems, policies and procedures, or the ability to rapidly gain such knowledge.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical and investigative skills; and a good understanding of cross-cultural issues.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) with the ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and initiative but also demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with others.
