Required Qualifications:
- Completion of accredited Medical Assistant program
- Certified Medical Assistant
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (CPR) certificate, or must obtain within 30 days of hire
- Computer experience including use of Microsoft Office
- Experience documenting in electronic health records
- Ability to obtain a Basic Cardiac Life Support (CPR) certificate within 30 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience using eClinical Works.
- 2+ years’ experience working in a Primary Care clinic (Family Medicine or Internal Medicine) or an Urgent Care clinic.
Job Description:
Texas State University Health Services is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to assist physician or nurse practitioner at its ambulatory health care facility serving college students. Responsible for explaining procedures, setting up the exam room, cleaning and restocking items, and performing treatments.
Job Duties:
Front & Back Office Duties:
- Collect patient data including chief complaint, vital signs, allergies and past medical history.
- Enter data into computer to schedule appointments, document diagnoses and capture charges.
- Perform skilled nursing tasks including wound care, EKG, administration of immunizations, intramuscular, subcutaneous, oral, and inhalation medications.
- Assist the medical provider during exams, schedule follow up appointments and referrals, label specimens.
- Stock exam rooms and remove bio-hazardous waste.
- Document procedures.
- Prepare patients for examination by having necessary instruments available.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
