Salary: $3,377.55 – $4,318.20 monthly – Successful candidate will start at step 1 except in cases where District deems appropriate. This is a Categorically Funded position. Continuation of this position is contingent upon continued funding.

Basic Function
Under general supervision of an administrator or manager, assists in the instruction of children enrolled in the Child Development Center; supervises the classroom and playground activities of children to ensure a safe environment for all while providing opportunities for children to explore and grow.
Representative Duties
- Assists in preparing lessons and materials for classroom activities. E
- Assists in planning and participates in fieldtrips and other special activities and/ or events. E
- Delivers assigned curriculum and sets up the learning environment with a variety of materials. E
- Assists children during instruction in health and safety habits; provides health assistance and training to children with toileting/diapering, hand washing, and all other self-care tasks; changes childrens diapers, clothes, and shoes, as needed. E
- Assists children during instruction in a variety of academic subjects and creative activities; serves as a role model to the children; modeling developmentally appropriate language, social behavioral, and physical skills for young children. E
- Assists with childrens supervision and safety in the indoor/outdoor environment; assists teachers and/or reports any injuries a child may incur to administration. E
- Assists in the evaluation of students progress through various modes of documentation and assists with Parent Teacher Conferences. E
- Prepares and serves snacks and meals to children by assisting in the delivery of the nutritional program including recording point of service; assists in the removal and clean-up of food served to children. E
- Maintains classroom cleanliness and cleanliness in other areas as necessary to continue program operations; maintains and cares properly for classroom pets and cleaning of habitats. E
- Assists students and parents working in the classroom. E
- Maintains the naptime environment including setting up cots and necessary bedding, maintaining a quiet and restful environment. E
- Interacts, nurtures, and mentors children throughout instruction and classroom activities. E
- Performs a variety of clerical and administrative responsibilities... E
- Performs related duties that support the overall objective of the position.
Education and Experience
- Twenty-four (24) units of Early Childhood Education (ECE)/Child Development (CD) education courses plus sixteen (16) general education units or an Associate degree (AA) or higher in ECE/CD;
- 175 days of experience at three plus (3+) hours per day within four (4) years; in curriculum and/or field work.
- Child Development Teacher Permit or higher issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
- Or, any combination of education and experience which would provide the required qualifications for the position.
License Certificates/Credentials
- A valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification.
- First Aid Certification and Pediatric First Aid Certification.
- CPR and First Aid Certificate from the American Red Cross or other authorized agency.
- Maintain Child Development Teacher Permit or higher issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid driver license.
