"Chinese Studies - Part-Time Lecturer Pool"

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Part-Time Lecturer pool in Chinese Studies to teach undergraduate courses in Chinese language, culture, business, art, literature, linguistics and/or film.

Areas of Specialization: We are seeking highly motivated, well-organized individuals to teach in at least two of the following subject areas:

• Chinese Language, Introductory to Advanced
• Chinese Culture, Chinese Civilization, and Contemporary China
• Chinese for Business
• Chinese Literature, Intermediate to Advanced
• Chinese Linguistics
• Chinese Film

This is a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions are available. Appointments from the part-time pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants must be available on very short notice.

Required Qualifications:

• Candidates must hold at least a master's degree in Chinese, Chinese Studies, or a related field and possess native-like fluency in Chinese to teach lower-division (100- and 200-level) courses, and must hold a Ph.D. (or be a Ph.D. candidate) in Chinese Studies or a related field and possess native-like fluency in Chinese in order to teach upper-division (300-level) courses.
• Candidates should demonstrate their ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students.
• This position requires the legal right to work in the United States of America. California State University, Fullerton cannot sponsor part-time faculty for work visas or permanent residence.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience at the college or university level and who can furnish evidence of strong teaching.
• Preference will also be given to those with experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment.
• Preference will also be given to those with relevant work experience and those who bring professional capabilities.
