Central Connecticut State University invites applications to join the Office of Regulatory Affairs as a full-time Civil Rights Investigator. We seek collaborative professionals who will work with all members of the University community to ensure the delivery of appropriate University-wide multi-disciplinary services and support to students and staff.

Position Profile
The Civil Rights Investigator is responsible for complaint intake, case management, facilitating informal resolutions, student/faculty support, civil rights investigations, and campus-wide compliance training. The Civil Rights Investigator requires a high level of confidentiality when conducting investigations and handling confidential information.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to interpret relevant state and federal statutes and regulations, knowledge of principles and methods of case management and investigation.
- Knowledge of interviewing techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain objectivity, exercise diplomacy, mediate controversy, and foster dialogue with multiple viewpoints.
- Demonstrated success working in a unionized environment with multiple collective bargaining agreements.
- Demonstrated superior written and oral communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to relate and work collegially, constructively, and effectively with a variety of stakeholders, groups, and individuals, as well as the ability to work independently.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize Microsoft Office Suite programs and other computerized software and technologies.
Applicant Evaluative Criteria
Applicant profiles and supplementary materials will be evaluated for appointment based on the following:
Education: All applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Experience and Training:
- Four (4) years of professional experience in case management and/or investigations typically administered in Human Resources, Human Rights and Opportunities, Victim Advocacy, Judicial, and/or Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity.
- Proven ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and students.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.)
A master’s degree can be substituted for two (2) years of general experience.
Ideal Candidate
Preference will be given to applicants with the following:
- Experience in higher education
- ATIXA Certification or substantially similar training

Compensation and Employee Benefits
