Information Systems Analyst

Position Summary:
The Information Systems Analyst and is responsible for coordinating and directing telecommunications systems and staff. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintain and support over 650 faculty, staff and departmental computers in 7 campus buildings as well as throughout the state, either in person, by phone or utilizing remote desktop software.
- Provide support for operating system issues, ranging from simple to complex such as computer will not turn on, shuts down unexpectedly, freezes, is slow, has audio or video problems or other operating issues. Determine if issues are hardware or software related, then correct software issues and schedule hardware warranty repair through Dell.
- Install and provide support for a variety of software programs, including installing updates as required, troubleshooting when programs will not run properly or users need assistance with its use, configuring it as necessary to provide user with optimum usability. Ensure hardware meets minimum requirements for software.
- Perform file recovery on machines which have failed to avoid loss of user data.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity issues to determine if the cause is a network, software or hardware issue and correct.
- Research and make recommendations for desktops, laptops, tablets, peripheral devices and software needed by faculty and staff and student labs.
- Maintain hardware inventory to determine the best use for technology fund rotation, access user needs and make recommendations as to needed hardware and accessories, such as whether user would be most effective with a desktop or laptop, if docking stations, external monitors, etc. are needed, offering more efficient or less expensive alternatives when appropriate. Prepare quotes to order equipment.
- Receive and setup new computer for the user, joining it to the correct domain, configuring for the user’s specific needs, providing necessary administrator access, installing software, printers or other peripheral devices and transferring files as needed from previous machines.
- Maintain and support 6 student lab areas with a total of 117 computers, 31 of which maintain dual operating systems. Determine appropriate replacements as necessary.
- Maintain and support instructor computers, projectors and other devices for 24 classrooms and several conference rooms.
- Work with users to provide optimum technology resources by analyzing needs and suggesting the most effective course of action, including all viable alternatives as options.
- Investigate and assess technology to make users more productive and effective and determine the best way to implement new technology
- Work with users that have special requirements, such as those with visual or physical issues to provide optimum productivity.
- Manage four servers, one for printing in student labs, one for hosting websites for Teacher Education courses, one for FOG (used to image computers) and a utility server hosting all COEBS software and computer images
- Administer WaterMark Evaluation Software
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures, Federal Communications Commission rules and regulations, operating procedures for telecommunications equipment and systems, and cable access channel programming where applicable
Ability to communicate verbal transmissions, coordinate repair and maintenance of telecommunications systems, plan telecommunication equipment acquisitions, operate standard office equipment, maintain records, plan, organize, and oversee the work of subordinates, and prepare oral and written information
General Days/Hours:
Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Assist in the procurement of technologies used in the college
Catalog informational technology equipment of the college
Set-up computers and oth r technologies as needed
Provide technology and software support to faculty and staff
Manage course/instructor assessment software
Assist with web-page development and maintenance
Minimum Qualifications:
The formal education equivalent of an earned Bachelor's Degree with a major in communications or related field
Three (3) years of experience in telecommunications or related area, including one year in a supervisory capacity
Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements, upon approval of the qualifications review committee
