About the Role
The Operations Officer at the Melbourne School of Psychological Sciences will join a dedicated team supporting the administrative functions across the School. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the role involves overseeing HR administration, facilities management, finance, procurement, and general administration. The appointee will contribute to developing and implementing administrative systems to ensure efficient School operations, emphasising a values-driven approach of innovation, collaboration, and excellence in research and teaching support.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Ensure delivery of end-to-end processes and transactions within the ambit of the Operations team, covering recruitment, procurement, facilities, staff induction and general administration.
- Provide high-level, support to the Operations Manager on operational matters relating to University procedures, especially with respect to staffing, recruitment, compliance and governance.
- Ensure effective customer service support for staff across the School
- Build and maintain strong and effective relationships with internal and external staff to ensure the efficient delivery of services
Who We Are Looking For
The successful candidate will possess exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail, highly developed time management abilities, and a customer service-oriented approach. They will demonstrate sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and have experience working autonomously and leading processes in complex team environments. Additionally, they will excel in communication and interpersonal skills, interpret policies effectively, coordinate quality assurance processes, and maintain high standards of work. Experience in or understanding of the higher education sector, proficiency in university systems, and knowledge of finance and HR processes are desirable.
You will also have:
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and relevant experience or combination of education/training and relevant experience.
- Highly developed skills in time management, setting priorities, planning and organising own work and influencing others in order to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated customer service focused approach with experience of, and commitment to providing, high level professional support to all stakeholders.
- An ability to exercise sound judgement and to maintain confidentiality.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
