Clerical Assistant 2 - Society, History & Culture
Job Summary
The Clerical Assistant 2 – Society, History, and Culture will provide essential administrative support to the department, ensuring smooth daily operations and effective communication within the department and with external stakeholders.
Responsibilities include providing clerical support to the chair and faculty members in the department; managing correspondence; scheduling meetings; maintaining departmental records; assisting faculty and students; supporting departmental events and academic processes; and other duties as assigned. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and proficient in office software, with strong interpersonal skills to contribute to the department’s mission.
Minimum Qualifications
- Technical Proficiency: With Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, and SharePoint, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new platforms.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a strong commitment to providing excellent customer service in a diverse and inclusive work environment.
- Organizational Excellence: Highly organized, dependable, and efficient, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Attention to Detail and Confidentiality: Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly and maintain confidentiality of records and communications.
- Initiative and Adaptability: Ability to take initiative, solve problems proactively, and adapt to changing needs and priorities in a dynamic academic setting.
- Cultural competency: as it relates to working with diverse populations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using Source Point, SAP, MyKU, ZOOM, and a variety of other discipline specific computer programs.
- Experience in an academic office on a university campus.
- Event planning experience.
- Experience in supporting faculty programmatic initiatives (for example recruitment, retention, curricular revisions, events)
- Willingness to participate in university-sponsored events.
- Experience working with a student enrollment management system like Banner
- Experience with web page and social media editing.
- Experience managing a budget

The starting salary for this position is $36,108.00, based on the AFSCME Collective Bargaining Agreement.
