The Climate Jobs Institute at Cornell University's ILR School is guiding New York's and the nation's transition to a strong and resilient clean energy economy that tackles the climate crisis and creates high-quality union jobs. Through cutting-edge policy research, deep relationships with on-the-ground partners, and innovative training and education programs, the Institute provides information for policymakers, the labor and environmental movements, industry leaders, and others to navigate the transition to a zero-carbon economy.
The successful candidates will use research, policy, training, and education skills to guide this transition. They will build strong relationships with labor unions, especially building trades and energy unions, environmental organizations, elected leaders, and other allies. They will lead policy and technical research to design jobs-centered, pro-union, and equitable climate policy, and plan educational convenings, trips, trainings, and workshops based on CJI's expertise and partner needs. Candidates will become subject matter experts in the labor and employment impacts of clean energy technologies such as solar, wind, geothermal, hydrogen, building upgrades, and low-carbon transportation.
Qualifications include a Master's or advanced degree in a related field, 2 to 5 years of experience working with the labor movement or on climate change with an emphasis on worker, labor, or social justice issues, strong skills in written communication, analysis, and policy research, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
