Job Description Summary

The primary function of this position is to perform all receptionist tasks, duties and responsibilities in Student Health and Counseling. This position will provide an array of patient focused services in highly customer service oriented manner which includes but not limited to scheduling of appointments, appointment book controls, answering phones, collection and data entry of patient-related information and facilitating access to care. It also requires being able to communicate effectively with staff and clinicians.

Job Responsibilities

  • Scheduling of appointments through automatic call distribution system (ACD) and Student Health EMR. Answering questions, triaging to multiple other endpoints and coordination of care for patients seeking information and assistance.
  • Checking in students for individual appointments or groups and collaborating with clinical team for all urgent drop-in/walk-in students, responding to inquiries, registering and updating information in clinical chart.
  • Documentation: Scanning, logging in charts, ensuring demographics, contact and insurance information is accurate.
  • Checking out students, scheduling follow up, maintaining records. Assist clinical staff as necessary with responding to student inquiries, immediate issues, trouble shooting problems.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma and 3 to 5 years experience in a health care setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience, are required.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records is preferable.
  • Highly reliable and dependable. Initiatives work independently with minimum amount of supervision.
  • Demonstrate cultural competence/proficiency in interactions with others by treating co-workers, colleagues and those receiving service with respect and fairness at all times.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive and professional relationships based on respect, trust, and safety.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member.
  • Highly responsible and reliable as well as courteous.
  • Unconditional ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
