Clinical Assistant Professor (Endodontics)
Job Description
Primary Purpose and Essential Functions: The Department of Endodontics at the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, invites applicants to apply for a full-time, clinical teaching position; 4 days per week, 52 weeks per year.
Full-Time, clinical teaching position; 4 days per week, 52 weeks per year. Non-Tenure Track at the Sacramento Campus/PHCC.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Transfer knowledge of Endodontology based on scientific evidence at the highest levels achievable to students and the profession at large.
- Promote comprehensive care in clinical education and be an active player in the process.
- Establish high standards of competency in Endodontics, communicate them, and insist that they be met through a calibrated and expert faculty.
- Establish a culture of teaching that promotes compassionate patient care at the highest possible standards of service for their individual needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge of:
- Dental school educational processes.
- Endodontic information and technique.
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of dental private practice, as general dentist or specialist endodontist.
Education:
- DDS/DMD or international equivalent, completion of training from an Accredited Dental School program.
- Valid CPR certification.
Working Conditions:
- Position is full-time, 4 days per week.
- Occasional travel to the San Francisco campus may be required for professional development or other activities as assigned by their Department Chair.

Ability to:
- Communicate effectively with a diverse population of patients, students, staff, faculty and administration.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Work effectively in a group setting.
- Maintain confidentiality of information.
- Demonstrate professional judgment in all situations.
Experience:
- Previous teaching experience in a school environment.
Education:
- Endodontic certificate, preferably from a CODA accredited dental school.
Other:
- Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
- Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.
Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative but not definitive of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
GENERAL: Faculty should have sufficient motor function to execute movements essential to providing oral health care to patients.
SPECIFIC: Must possess the motor skills to perform relevant diagnostic maneuvers, dental preparations, and clinical procedures in a timely manner. Such actions require coordination of gross and fine muscular movements, equilibrium, and functional uses of the senses of touch and vision.
SPECIFIC: Must be able to perform basic life support including CPR, transfer and position patients with disabilities, physically restrain adults and children who lack motor control, and position and reposition himself or herself around the patient and chair in sitting and standing positions for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to operate controls, use high-speed or low-speed dental handpieces for tooth preparation procedures, the operating microscope and use hand instrumentation including scalpels for surgical procedures. All of these skills must be performed within reasonable time frames.
