Clinical Assistant Professor for the proposed Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program

Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties

The Department of Physical Therapy invites applications for a 12-month full-time non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor for our pre-accreditation status Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. This core faculty position will require teaching, advisement, scholarship, and service responsibilities. The position provides administrative support for both full-time and part-time clinical education as needed by the program. Immediate start date available for qualified candidates.

General Requirements

Preferred Qualifications
American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists (ABPTS) certification in Orthopedics, Sports, Geriatrics, Pediatrics, Cardiovascular & Pulmonary, Clinical Electrophysiology, Oncology, or Women's Health. Previous experience teaching in a physical therapist education program. Experience with curriculum development and assessment. Evidence of professional development activities and continuing education. Knowledge of physical therapy accreditation standards and educational best practices. Experience with clinical research or evidence-based practice initiatives. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Strong motivation to drive students' clinical success through collaborative and personalized resource management.

Collaborative and Supportive Environment: The successful candidate will join a dynamic and motivated team within a growing health professions campus supported by engaged campus leadership, strong administrative infrastructure, and mission-driven faculty members. This position offers the opportunity to help shape a new DPT program in a collaborative, well-resourced, and forward-thinking academic environment. The program benefits from close collaboration with other health professions programs housed on the Medical and Health Professions Campus, as well as modern facilities and a shared commitment to student success and academic excellence.

Location: The proposed Doctor of Physical Therapy Program will be housed in Conroe, Texas on SHSU's Medical and Health Professions Campus, and will matriculate students in August 2027.

In 2021, SHSU received tuition revenue bond funding to build an 80,000 square foot Health Professions Building. The new building is now complete and operational, housing four academic programs including the MS in Athletic Training, MS in Dietetics, MS in Physician Assistant (proposed), and Doctor of Physical Therapy (proposed).
