Job Summary:
The Athletic Training Program at Marist University invites applications for a 2-year Visiting Lecturer position beginning Fall 2026. The successful candidate will teach primarily courses in the Master of Science in Athletic Training program with a focus on Therapeutic Exercise and Therapeutic Interventions. The successful candidate will also assume the role of Clinical Education Coordinator (CEC).
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Athletic Training, health professions, exercise science/kinesiology or education. BOC, Inc. Athletic Trainer certification (ATC) Eligible for NYS Athletic Trainer license
Essential Functions:
The successful candidate will teach primarily courses in the Master of Science in Athletic Training program with a focus on Therapeutic Exercise and Therapeutic Interventions and will also assume the role of Clinical Education Coordinator (CEC). The CEC is responsible for the oversight and operation of the clinical education component for students enrolled in the MSAT program. The CEC will be responsible for communicating between the athletic training program and affiliated clinical education sites and facilitating learning experiences for students during their clinical field experience (CFE). In cooperation with other faculty, the CEC will evaluate students' performance and determine their ability to integrate didactic and clinical learning experiences. The CEC is further charged with ensuring a logical progression of clinical experience that encompasses a variety of patient populations, which will prepare the students for autonomous practice upon graduation. The CEC will facilitate quality learning experiences for students’ clinical education, along with educating students and preceptors about clinical education. The CEC will also be responsible for providing professional development opportunities for preceptors to promote the integration of evidence-informed practice into patient care. Additionally, the CEC is responsible for maintaining all records related to the CFE. This can include, but is not limited to, student medical requirements, preceptor credentials, clinical site therapeutic equipment databases, affiliated clinical site agreements, and all student clinical education forms. It is the responsibility of the CEC to recruit effective preceptors, and to conduct initial training and subsequent annual evaluation for each preceptor and affiliated clinical site. The CEC will be the liaison for preceptors regarding the CFE and will also become the point of contact for instructors involved with the didactic courses that accompany the CFE. The CEC will also be responsible for collecting, organizing, and disseminating records related to clinical education assessment, and will work with the department faculty to ensure quality control within the CFE. Additional responsibilities include: Additional courses could include undergraduate Anatomy and Physiology and First Aid/CPR. Collaborate with faculty in curriculum review, revision, assessment, and strategic planning. Potential to teach summer MSAT courses. Participate in the recruitment, admission, and retention of MSAT program applicants. Assist with maintaining CAATE accreditation. Preferred Qualifications:
PhD/EdD in Athletic Training, health professions, exercise science/kinesiology or education.
