Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychology Bellevue Program
Job Summary
Eastern Washington University’s School of Psychology invites applications for a full-time, academic year, Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychology, specialization open, to begin January 2, 2026 or March 16, 2026. This position is a full-time, academic-year appointment, and eligible for renewal for successive annual 9-month appointments. This position requires candidates to be located in or willing to relocate to the greater Seattle/Bellevue area and to teach courses for the EWU at Bellevue College program on the Bellevue College campus.
Responsibilities
- Effectively teaching a variety of undergraduate courses to fulfill the needs of the Programs and School. Final courses will be determined in consultation with the Chair and Psychology at BC Program Director. Courses will be specific to expertise and support offerings in the School. Courses at the undergraduate level may include Scientific Principles of Psychology, Science of Stress and Coping, Research Method, Senior Capstone, Seminar, and others. Additional responsibilities include student advising, practicum/internship supervision, and/or research supervision.
- Collecting, retaining, and disseminating course and program data for accrediting bodies and to maintain professional standards.
- Collaborating with colleagues in utilization of creativity and best practice knowledge in curriculum development, classroom instruction, and student supervision.
- Attending and participating in weekly School meetings; Program meetings, School, College, and University meetings retreats, recruitment and retention events, and graduation ceremonies, and program specific collaboration teams meetings as well collaborating with colleagues to fulfill the mission of the School of Psychology.
The typical teaching load is 45 credits per year, spread over three quarters. The candidate is expected to participate in program specific work groups related to their expertise and teaching, and should be an active member in the School. Opportunities for summer teaching, although not required, may be available.

Required Qualifications
- Ph.D., Psy.D., or Ed.D. in an area of Psychology or a related field. ABDs in Psychology may be considered, but the doctorate must be completed no later the employment start date
- Ability to teach a variety courses in psychology, and specific to specialty areas, as demonstrated by coursework, prior teaching experience, research, and/or publications/presentations
- Mastery of basic computer skills including word processing, database, email, and other forms of instruction technology
- A high degree of interest in human and cultural backgrounds, social justice and experiential and community-based education
- Demonstrated ability to apply a responsive and flexible approach that is supportive of the needs including universal access of our students, faculty, staff and the public
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching university or college graduate level psychology courses
- Demonstrated ability to teach in online and hybrid formats using synchronous and asynchronous components
- Commitment to quality teaching and student development
- Demonstrated ability to advise students and to supervise practicum/internship, applied experiences, and/or research
- Demonstrated high degree of interest, ability, and/or experience promoting cultural competency

- Supervising students engaged in applied experiences such as research, practicum, portfolio, and internship.
- Attending and participating in weekly School meetings; School, College, and University meetings retreats, and graduation ceremonies, and program specific collaboration teams meetings as well as collaborating with colleagues to fulfill the missions of the School of Psychology.
The typical teaching load is 45 credits per year, spread over three quarters. The candidate is expected to participate in program specific work groups related to their expertise and should be an active member in the School. Conditions of Employment
The required start date for this position is 01/02/2026 or 03/16/2026.To be considered eligible for appointment into the position, applicants must be available and able to start in the position no later than 01/02/2026 or 3/16/25.
Position is based on the EWU @ Bellevue campus, and includes in-classroom teaching as part of its position responsibilities. As a result, this position will not be filled with a candidate who seeks an on-line only, remote teaching position.
This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value, as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. The offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion and passing of a background check prior to beginning employment. A valid driver’s license is also required.

All new employees must comply with EWU Immunization Policy 602-02 and provide proof of immunity or vaccination to MMR before beginning work at EWU. Waivers for the immunization requirements are available for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs.
After starting employment, employees will complete the required training via Canvas. Workplace Belonging training will be available on December 1st and should be completed by March 31st, 2026.
