Clinical Assistant Professor, Physical Therapy

The Department of Physical Therapy invites applications for two, full-time, 12-month, non-tenure-track core faculty members to join our dynamic and collaborative team. Academic rank for these positions will be at the Clinical Assistant Professor level.

The Department of Physical Therapy at Baylor University is home to a 26-month Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education accredited hybrid DPT program, supports community-partnered American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education accredited orthopedic and pediatric physical therapy residencies, and maintains an interdepartmental PhD collaborative program. We are seeking innovative faculty members to join our department in meeting our mission: advance societal health through innovative education, connection, leadership, and research in physical therapy. The Department of Physical Therapy is hybrid, with faculty and staff who live across the United States. Faculty may live and lead remotely but must travel to Waco, TX for designated work periods of time, including weekends.

Responsibilities: Responsibilities include collaborative team teaching entry-level DPT students in areas of expertise and program need, coaching/mentoring graduate students, engaging in research, and participating in departmental, institutional and professional service.

Qualifications:

  • Required: A doctoral degree in physical therapy (DPT, tDPT) is required; an MPT is acceptable if the applicant holds a terminal doctorate (i.e. PhD, DSc, EdD). Applicants must exhibit a collaborative working style with faculty and students and model a philosophy consistent with the Department of Physical Therapy's vision, mission, and values, and Baylor University's Christian mission. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis and hold current/unrestricted physical therapist licensure within any US state or jurisdiction.
  • Preferred: Special consideration will be given to candidates with a terminal doctorate (i.e. PhD, DSc, EdD), ABPTS board certification within a specialty area, as well as experience teaching clinical and applied anatomy, cardiopulmonary, and/or integumentary physical therapy. Experience supporting clinical education is desirable. A demonstrated scholarly agenda and early-career publication record is preferred, as well as active involvement within professional activities at local, state, and/or national levels. Previous teaching within an accredited DPT program is preferred, especially with hybrid, online, or 'flipped' educational formats. Applicants with a background in innovative teaching and learning, who have experience collaborating remotely with a diverse population, and who are interested in novel solutions for research productivity in a hybrid environment are encouraged to apply. Individuals from underrepresented minority groups are encouraged to apply. Permanent residence within a 300-mile radius of Waco, TX, or willingness to relocate to this region, is desirable.

Salary and Review Date: The budgeted salary range is $103,000.00 - $113,000.00. As part of the Baylor family, eligible employees receive a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, generous time off, tuition remission, and outstanding automatic retirement contributions.

About Baylor University: Baylor University is a private Christian university and a nationally ranked research institution, located in Waco, Texas. It has a diverse student population and is recognized as one of the top universities in the nation.
