Clinical Assistant Professor, School of Social Work
Position Summary
The University at Buffalo, School of Social Work is recruiting for a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Practicum Education Department. The Practicum Education Department is responsible for overseeing MSW students practicums with social work agencies in order to ensure the successful preparation of diverse graduates for social work practice. Our practicum education team consists of three faculty and two staff members who are MSW prepared, and an administrative field coordinator. The department places approximately 450 MSW students in field placements annually, including online MSW students.
Key accountabilities and responsibilities include:
- Working collaboratively with the practicum department to ensure quality practicum experiences that enable students to meet required competencies, and adhere to accreditation standards.
- Developing and implementing practicum education curriculum (including teaching practicum-related courses).
- Assigning students to practicum placements through student meetings and use of software and other technology record-keeping and tracking of data related to individual placement.
- Identifying and developing new practicum sites, with attention to innovative models, and new, creative approaches to social work practicum, including placements with an enhanced curricular focus.
- Developing written and digital educational materials for the practicum course for students and the wider field community.
- Participating in MSW curriculum development, scholarship, and creative knowledge development, and fulfilling other faculty responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications
- MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited social work program
Preferred Qualifications
- LMSW, LCSW (or license eligible in New York State)
- 5 years of post-MSW practice experience preferred
- Applicants with expertise in experiential learning, practicum education, and fostering community partnerships are particularly encouraged to apply
