Clinical Coordinator II (DXA Technician) - Endocrinology
Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of the Metabolic Bone Diseases Program and the Endocrinology Practice Manager, the Clinical Coordinator will collaborate with faculty, administrative, technical, and support staff. This role involves performing bone densitometry and other specialized skeletal imaging procedures, including High-Resolution peripheral Quantitative Computed Tomography (HRpQCT), for both clinical and research purposes. A New York State Radiological Technician License is required. The Coordinator will also have administrative responsibilities within the bone imaging unit.
Responsibilities
- Perform bone densitometry and other specialized skeletal imaging procedures, including HRpQCT.
- Prepare printouts for review and analysis of related data.
- Manage data using Excel and other repositories.
- Generate quality control reports and analyze clinical results.
- Collect patient information and maintain equipment.
- Triage incoming calls.
- Schedule and confirm bone density appointments.
- Check patients in and out.
- Obtain and link bone density orders prior to scheduled appointments.
- Scan insurance cards and necessary forms.
- Maintain knowledge of accepted insurance plans and collect applicable co-pays.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent training, education, and experience, plus three years of related experience.
- New York State Radiological Technician License.
- Experience with bone density measurement technology.
- Proficiency in computer data management and reporting.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including a professional phone manner.
Preferred Qualifications
- International Society of Clinical Densitometry (ISCD) certification.
- Ability to be trained to perform other highly specialized skeletal procedures, such as HRpQCT.
Other Requirements
- Medical clearance and participation in the medical surveillance program. Contact with patients and/or human research subjects.
- Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements.
