Clinical Lecturer in Oral Surgery

We are a world class research-intensive university. We deliver teaching and learning of the highest quality. We play a leading role in economic, social and cultural development of the North East of England. Attracting and retaining high-calibre people is fundamental to our continued success.

The role
We are looking for a suitably qualified dentist for the post of Clinical Lecturer in Oral Surgery.

You will be required to become actively involved in the teaching and research programmes of the School of Dental Sciences and potentially across the Faculty of Medical Sciences and University.

In research, you will be expected to contribute to existing research activity in translational oral biosciences, applied oral health and/or dental education, developing towards independence as a researcher.

In teaching, you will be expected to contribute to academic and clinical teaching on our undergraduate clinical BDS and BSc courses and our developing portfolio of postgraduate courses.

In addition, candidates will have the opportunity to undertake clinical work in the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation trust and potentially other settings across the region. Appropriately qualified candidates will be expected to complete an approved specialty training programme in oral surgery leading to CCST in oral surgery.

The post has approval for specialty training by the Postgraduate Dean and if specialty training is to be undertaken, the successful candidate will be expected to fulfil benchmarking requirements via NHS Specialty Training National Recruitment.

Further information about the School of Dental Sciences can be found at http://www.ncl.ac.uk/dental/.

Informal enquires may be made to Prof Chris Vernazza, interim Head of School by e-mailing c.r.vernazza@ncl.ac.uk.
