Clinical Lecturer Population Health

We are seeking to appoint a clinical lecturer to undertake clinical, scientific research and teaching who would strongly complement, enhance and develop activities in the area of population health.

The candidate will join our vibrant and growing multidisciplinary team in the Population Health Research Institute (PHRI) at City St George’s, University of London. PHRI addresses a wide range of population health conditions (cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, infectious diseases, eye disease, respiratory and allergic diseases, mental illness) and their determinants across the lifecourse. There is expertise in the effects of environmental exposures on health and wellbeing; the safety of medicines in pregnancy; the rehabilitation of long-term conditions including COVID; complex behavioural interventions for smoking cessation and physical activity; preventive medicine, ethnic and social health inequalities, global health, and the co-creation of research. Our research informs policy and practice.

We are seeking to appoint a candidate with their own ongoing or developing internationally recognised research, teaching, impact and other activities in a field related to public health.

Key attributes of the successful applicant include:

  • PhD or MD in epidemiology, medical statistics, health economics, public health, psychology, research co-creation or a closely related discipline;
  • Experience of working in academic or research environments;
  • A track record of publications
  • Excellent teaching skills
  • Ability to contribute to or synergise with our existing research strengths;
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills; and
  • Enthusiasm for research in population health.

This is a Clinical Academic post of 5 programmed activities for academic work. The successful candidate is responsible for securing the clinical proportion of their role. Please note: Salary for this post does not cover the clinical component of the Lectureship which will still come from the NHS.
