Clinical Research Midwife
This Clinical Trial Midwife is responsible for supporting the conduct of clinical research projects in the field of extreme heat and child and maternal health. This position will be based in the Thermal Ergonomics Laboratory which is housed in the Heat and Health Research Centre at The University of Sydney, Camperdown Campus.
We are seeking a candidate to support the clinical trial process, from planning to execution, ensuring a seamless transition through all stages. The candidate will handle data capture, verification, and overall adherence to standards while fostering relationships with research staff and stakeholders. The candidate will ensure Good Clinical Practice and that every aspect of the trial meets the highest ethical and scientific standards.
- Support the end-to-end clinical trial process, assisting with the planning, initiation, and execution of trials, and ensuring smooth operations from start-up to close-out
- Support data capture and verification for clinical trials, maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with regulations
- Build productive relationships with research and professional staff, facilitating effective communication and collaboration
- Uphold the principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) in all clinical trials, ensuring that ethical and scientific quality standards are met in design, conduct, recording, and reporting
- Champion a proactive approach to health and safety, review and provide feedback on work area protocols, and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure consistent safety standards across tasks and projects
- Use critical thinking and problem solving to analyse midwifery practice to provide safe, appropriate and responsive quality support to research trial participants. Respond effectively to emergency situations and the change status of patients as required
- Undertake other duties within the classification level as required
About you:
- Experience in clinical trial management and supporting clinical trials
- Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) registered nurse
- Knowledge of ICH guidelines and good clinical practice working in a research-intensive environment
- Strong data analysis and analytical problem solving skills
- Possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills and a demonstrated level of tact and discretion in dealing with day to day operational matters
- Strong research software skills
- Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience
- Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of multi-disciplinary team of researchers
