Job Description:
- Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN)
- Full-time (100%), fixed-term position through to January 2027
- Base salary will be in the range $82,133.75 - $91,295.49 + 17% Superannuation (HEW Level 5)
- Based at our St Lucia Campus
About This Opportunity
Join an expert team focusing on nanomedicine and extracellular vesicle research, to provide technical research support and expertise in cell culture, flow cytometry and in vivo models to enable high quality research outcomes for the Wolfram Group.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Coordinate aspects of cell culture, flow cytometry, and in vivo studies
- Assist in the design of research studies, under supervision of senior staff
- Apply and/or instruct others on the application of advanced or specialist or technical research skills or processes, including flow cytometry and in vivo studies
- Assist in the conduct of major or complex experiments, tasks or programs focused next-generation therapeutics/vaccines
- Troubleshoot issues with scientific/technical equipment
- Undertake maintenance and upkeep of facilities and equipment
Safety
- Contribute to the safe and efficient operation of research equipment, infrastructure, methodologies and protocols
- Ensure the appropriate storage, handling and disposal of chemicals, equipment, stores and/or samples/specimens
Research and administrative support
- Assist with drafting research documentation, including ethics and funding applications
- Undertake literature searches and reviews
- Assist with routine team administration
- Assist with preparing reports, graphs, figures and presentations on research outcomes at different stages of the research cycle outcomes
Any other duties as reasonably directed by your supervisor.
About You
- Completion of a degree level qualification in biology or related field; or completion of a Diploma with relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
- Excellent practical research skills and experience in relevant research methodology or techniques required for this body of research
- Experience using flow cytometry and in vivo models
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
- Ability to work independently on routine procedures
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Well-organised, methodical and self-motivated
- Previous experience in a similar role would be considered favourably
