Work Location:

Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Why Join Us:

The Behavioral Neurology Section was established in 1991 by Dr. Christopher Filley to represent the study of brain-behavior relationships, and he serves as Director with Dr. Victoria Pelak as acting Associate Director. Clinical expertise is broad, encompassing neurodegenerative and vascular dementias, focal neurobehavioral syndromes, traumatic brain injury (TBI), neuropsychiatric disorders, neurobehavioral aspects of movement disorders, and higher visual dysfunction.

Our main Cognitive & Behavioral Neurology clinical practice is located in the Central Park Medical Center, co-located with Rehab, Family Medicine, and a new Outpatient Infusion Center. Subspecialty clinics within our Central Park practice include our Moderate/Severe TBI Clinic (directed by Dr. Delia Bakeman) and our Adult Neurodevelopmental Disability Clinic (directed by Dr. Jessica Sanders). Our faculty also practice in the UCHealth Boulder Medical Center, providing care to patients living north and west of the Denver Metro area. The CU Neuropsychiatry Clinic, also directed by Dr. Delia Bakeman, is housed on the main Anschutz Campus, caring for patients from our neurology clinics with primary neurological conditions requiring psychopharmacology expertise. The University of Colorado has been designated a Lewy Body Dementia Association Research Center of Excellence since 2017. The University of Colorado is also home to one of the few Neuropalliative and Supportive Care Clinics in the country, with which our faculty collaborate closely for patient care and research initiatives. Our Behavioral Neurology & Neuropsychiatry fellowship, directed by Dr. Samantha Holden, successfully trains 1-2 fellows per year, accepting neurology or psychiatry applicants. Our fellows have pursued successful academic and private practice careers across the country.

The Cognitive & Behavioral Neurology Section works in concert with the University of Colorado Alzheimer's and Cognition Center (CUACC). The CUACC is engaged in patient care, clinical research, and translational research through collaborations with the Anschutz Medical Campus and the University of Colorado Health System. Section members conduct clinical research within the CUACC, studying the science and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases with laboratory research scientists, and with the generous participation of patients seen at the CU Memory Disorders Clinic and Neurobehavior Clinic.

The Cognitive & Behavioral Neurology Section also maintains a close association with the Marcus Institute for Brain Health at the Anschutz Medical Campus, a unique academic entity dedicated to the assessment and care of patients with mild TBI.
