Assistant/Associate Professor- Pediatric Epileptologist
The Department of Pediatrics Section of Neurology at Yale School of Medicine is seeking outstanding full-time, clinical-academic Pediatric Epileptologists to join its growing Pediatric Epilepsy and Pediatric Neurology programs. Applicants are sought at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank, and academic appointments will be in the Yale School of Medicine.
In addition to both inpatient and outpatient clinical responsibilities, each pediatric epileptologist will be expected to help expand pediatric, neonatal, and ICU video/EEG monitoring, the ketogenic diet and VNS programs, and importantly, the Pediatric Epilepsy Surgery program. There will be numerous opportunities for epileptologists to contribute to clinical and research programs within the Section of Pediatric Neurology, as well as in conjunction with the National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC) Level IV Yale Comprehensive Epilepsy Center, directed by Drs. Lawrence Hirsch (Neurology) and Eyiyemesi Damisah (Neurosurgery). Extensive infrastructure for research is available throughout the Yale Campus, and cutting-edge initiatives in Clinical Neurosciences/Neuroimaging and basic-translational neurosciences are currently being implemented.
The successful Pediatric Epileptologists will join an existing team of 3 fellowship-trained and BC/BE Pediatric Epileptologists and will collaborate with 6 other Pediatric Neurologists with a broad range of subspecialty interests and skills, 10 Adult Epileptologists, 3 Neuropsychologists (1 Pediatric), and 2 Epilepsy Neurosurgeons. The Yale Pediatric Neurology Residency Program admits two residents per year, and all residents rotate through Pediatric Epilepsy. In addition, the Pediatric Epilepsy Program has dedicated nursing, pediatric psychology, nutrition, administrative and social work support. Finally, plans have been approved to expand the epilepsy monitoring unit at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital. This important expansion will be augmented with additional satellite facilities throughout Connecticut within the Yale New Haven Health System.
The Section of Pediatric Neurology comprises multiple faculty members housed in leading programs that are recognized both nationally and internationally. They hold multidisciplinary clinics which have been consistently ranked by US News and World Report. Excellence in clinical care, education, outreach and research spans all major subspecialty areas of Pediatric Neurology.
