Do Great Things! Durham Technical Community College is hiring a College Liaison for Cooperative Innovative High Schools in the High School Partnerships Department. The College Liaison for Cooperative Innovative High Schools (CIHS) serves as a key connector between Durham Tech and its partner high schools, supporting students as they transition from high school to postsecondary education. This role provides comprehensive academic advising, aligns high school and college coursework, and implements intentional support and engagement strategies to promote student achievement. The position is instrumental in advancing Durham Tech's mission of equitable access to higher education by building clear, supported pathways to college success. As a student-centered advocate, the College Liaison ensures a seamless transition to college and empowers students to reach their academic and career goals.

Student Advising and Support

  • Develop personalized four- or five-year academic plans for students to meet associate degree or credential requirements while still in high school.
  • Guide students through course selection and schedule planning to foster a gradual transition to college-level independence.
  • Provide academic advising to dual-enrolled students, ensuring clarity on college policies, procedures, and available resources.
  • Connect students to additional campus and community resources, including accessibility services, academic support, and personal development opportunities.

Collaboration and Partnership

  • Collaborate with high school and college teams to align class schedules, ensuring students have access to required coursework for timely completion.
  • Serve as a member of the high school's Student Success Team and participate in high school events such as orientations, awards ceremonies, and graduations to promote partnership initiatives.
  • Partner with college faculty and staff to monitor student progress and provide timely interventions as needed by utilization of the Customer Relationship Management systems and Student Success Systems.

Enrollment and Compliance

  • Facilitate placement testing, admissions, and enrollment processes for dual-enrolled students.
  • Maintain accurate student records, ensuring compliance with state and institutional policies, including CCP guidelines.
  • Review and update student information in college systems to ensure successful registration for future coursework.

Data and Reporting

  • Develop and present data-driven reports on student outcomes, program performance, and progress toward institutional goals for dual-enrolled students.
  • Use data insights to identify areas for improvement and recommend interventions to enhance student retention and credential attainment.

Campus Engagement

  • Promote campus activities, events, and opportunities to dual-enrolled students to foster a sense of belonging and enhance their college experience.
  • Coordinate communication campaigns to inform students and parents about important deadlines, resources, and opportunities for support.

Professional Development and Additional Duties

  • Stay current with CCP policies, best practices, and emerging trends in dual enrollment and high school partnerships.
  • Attend relevant conferences, workshops, and professional development opportunities as approved by departmental leadership.
  • Support the Assistant Director, High School Partnerships, and fulfill other responsibilities as assigned to meet departmental and institutional objectives.

Additional Expectations

  • Maintain a flexible schedule to meet the needs of students, with workspaces on both high school and college campuses.
  • Uphold FERPA regulations and institutional policies in all communications with students, families, and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the strategic objectives of the college, including efforts to increase credential attainment among dual-enrolled students in the service area.
  • Partner with college faculty and staff to monitor student progress and provide timely interventions as needed.
  • Demonstrates initiative and innovation, with the ability to independently advance projects and maintain a high level of professionalism without ongoing supervision.
  • Possesses a foundational understanding of health-related fields, ability to share clear communication of program requirements, pathways, and concepts in meetings and with students, parents, and additional stakeholders
  • Exhibits strong public speaking and presentation skills and the ability to engage with diverse audiences effectively.
  • Collaborates effectively as a team-oriented partner, building strong relationships across internal and external stakeholders to support joint goals and shared initiatives.

Bachelor's degree required, with related experience in education, student services, counseling, advising, or registrar's office functions.

Work Experience

  • A minimum of two years in a higher education setting or as a College Liaison, with demonstrated expertise in supporting high school students transitioning to college.
