Job Summary

Jobs in this career family involve development, marketing, and management of messaging to both internal and external parties. Functions include marketing; advertising; communications; publications; brand management; writing; editing; proofreading; graphic design; web information architecture, development, and design; web content development; electronic communications; social media; news media/relations; public relations; photography; videography; radio/television broadcasting; FCC compliance; and communication projects management.

Key Responsibilities

Social Media Management

  • Builds and manages social media strategy, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn, to promote the mission and visions of the division.
  • Ensure social media content adheres to brand standards (voice and design) and meets privacy policies for content release.
  • Develop and design social media content, including video and infographics using design programs such as Canva or Adobe.
  • Manage content using scheduling platforms such as Later to maintain a consistent posting schedule and social presence.
  • Gather social media content from surgeons, staff, and live events. Coordinates approval for social postings with internal faculty and staff as well as affiliates such as Children's Hospital Colorado and UCHealth.
  • Track the effectiveness of social media or digital campaigns.

Digital Asset and Website Content Management

  • Manage patient before and after photos including editing and cataloging.
  • Manage marketing digital assets (images, logos, collateral, and video) including editing, cataloging, and archiving.
  • Identify digital images to use for marketing collateral.
  • Collaborate with University of Colorado, UCHealth and Children's Hospital Colorado website specialists to ensure our affiliated programs' content remains current and dynamic.
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain program-specific websites (CU Plastic Surgery, Breast Program, etc.) ensuring content is current and dynamic. This includes regularly updating existing content, generating new content, creating blogs, and cross-linking to other sites, events, and news.
  • Perform search engine optimization.
  • Maintain the Faculty Information Management System (FIMS) in collaboration faculty and staff.

Marketing

  • Understand the marketing environment for PRS to align content with industry trends and ensure brand compliance.
  • Create and maintain marketing materials including brochures, flyers, promotional products, email campaigns, etc.
  • Utilize social media platforms to expand presence and business.
  • Research and highlight opportunities for marketing expansion.
  • Prepare and present reports on marketing efforts.

Public Relations and Internal Communications

  • Identify and pitch story ideas to the Division, School of Medicine, and campus-level communications team.
  • Coordinate with surgeons/media/in-house communications teams to ensure stories are written, ready to be released, and amplified on social media channels.
  • Manage outside media requests.
  • Develop content for, design, and send internal monthly Division newsletters.
  • Design flyers, invitations, etc. for Division events such as holiday parties.
  • Act as a liaison and point of contact for PRS news.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Communication Professional - Intermediate
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, business administration, or a directly related field from an accredited institution
One (1) year of professional experience in website development and maintenance
Demonstrated experience in creating marketing collateral

Communication Professional – Senior
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, business administration, or a directly related field from an accredited institution
Two (2) years of professional experience in Website development and maintenance
Demonstrated experience in creating marketing collateral

Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional experience in marketing/communications in a university, academic medical center and/or hospital system environment
  • Advanced skills in photography, videography, and photo editing
  • Advanced experience using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience in social media management
  • Demonstrated ability to perform search engine optimization
  • Experience with design programs such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience with Google Analytics
  • Experience working in a web content management system (Sitefinity, Hubspot)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge of and proven success with digital/email marketing best practices
  • Ability to prioritize and successfully manage numerous tasks at one time
  • Experience with troubleshooting issues and recommending solutions
  • Comfortable working with and learning new technologies

Anticipated Pay Range

The starting salary range (*or hiring range*) for this position has been established as:
Communication Professional – Intermediate: $45,948 - $58,445
Communication Professional – Senior: $49,673 - $63,184
The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation depending on the level.
